All Set for Morocco as 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed full confidence in Morocco’s ability to successfully host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In an official statement on January 23, CAF praised the decision to award Morocco the tournament, citing the country’s proven track record in hosting international football events. “The choice of Morocco as the host nation for AFCON comes as no surprise, given its history of successfully organising major competitions,” the statement read.

CAF highlighted Morocco’s previous successes in hosting prestigious events, such as the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the 2022 Women’s AFCON, and the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. The organisation also emphasised Morocco’s world-class infrastructure, passionate fanbase, and recognised expertise in managing large sporting events. “Morocco is ready to organise an African Cup of Nations that will set new standards for the competition,” the release continued, noting the enthusiastic reception of the announcement on 27 September 2023.

The Confederation also reviewed Morocco’s top-tier sports facilities, including the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, and major stadiums in Tangiers, Agadir, Marrakech, and Fez. The tournament will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with the group stage draw scheduled for next Monday at 7 p.m. at the Mohammed V Theatre.
