Uganda Unveils 2025/2026 Financial Year Resource Envelope worth of over USh57 trillion

The Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development has announced on January 28 the projected resource envelope for the 2025/2026 financial year, which is set at 57.441 trillion Ugandan shillings. This represents a significant reduction from the 72.137 trillion allocated for the current 2024/2025 financial year. The decrease is attributed to one-off expenditures, including strategic investments by the Bank of Uganda and other government initiatives, which will not be repeated in the upcoming financial year.
State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, explained that the reduction aligns with the government’s fiscal consolidation strategy, focusing on improving domestic revenue mobilisation and ensuring greater efficiency in public spending. Minister Musasizi made these remarks after the Budget Committee of Parliament sought clarification on the resource envelope and its fiscal implications. He, along with other officials from the Ministry of Finance, presented the National Budget Framework Paper for 2025/2026 to 2029/2030 to the committee.
