In a brutal escalation of Sudan’s ongoing civil war, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been accused of slaughtering at least 32 civilians during a two-day offensive in Brima Rashid village, located in the conflict-stricken southern Kordofan region. The activist group Emergency Room reported that the attack, which began Wednesday and extended into Thursday morning, left more than 50 people wounded. Victims included entire families, with siblings among the dead, in what has been described as a calculated onslaught against unarmed civilians.
The Sudan Doctors’ Network, which had earlier reported 27 deaths, condemned the massacre as reminiscent of crimes against humanity, citing targeted killings of women, children, and the elderly in their homes. Brima Rashid lies north of al-Nahud, a strategic town seized by the RSF earlier this year. No official response has yet been issued by the RSF, as the international community watches with mounting concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the impunity with which armed groups operate in Sudan.
