Rwanda and Senegal have deepened their diplomatic and developmental relations with the signing this week-end of five bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in key sectors including agriculture, health, correctional services, and national development under Vision 2050.
The accords, which also grant visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports, were formalised in Kigali during Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s three-day State visit, which began on Friday.
Presidents Paul Kagame and Bassirou Faye jointly witnessed the signing following high-level discussions focused on advancing shared strategic interests.
President Paul Kagame underscored the two nations’ shared commitment to Africa’s transformation, particularly through empowering the continent’s youth. He highlighted the importance of fostering a stable, innovative, and inclusive environment to unlock Africa’s potential, guided by principles of self-reliance and accountable governance. Earlier in the day, President Faye paid homage to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, describing the experience as a solemn reminder of Rwanda’s resilience and its enduring pursuit of peace and human fraternity.
