Egypt, Russia Deepen Strategic Dialogue on Gaza, Sudan and Regional Stability

On Sunday, November 16, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, has held consultations with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, focusing on advancing the Gaza agreement launched at the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace. Abdelatty underscored Cairo’s commitment to ensuring full implementation of the plan, which charts a pragmatic pathway toward Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. He also reviewed preparations for the upcoming International Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development of Gaza, while stressing that ongoing deliberations on a UN Security Council resolution must reinforce the ceasefire and lay the foundations for a just and comprehensive peace.
The discussion extended to regional hotspots, including Sudan, where Abdelatty reiterated the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to enable a sustainable political transition that safeguards the country’s unity and institutions.
The ministers also addressed the Iranian nuclear issue, with Egypt calling for renewed cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, alongside confidence-building among all parties to support a negotiated settlement. Reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Egypt and Russia, both sides committed to strengthening strategic collaboration and accelerating joint economic and trade initiatives.
