MOROCCO SETS UP AIRPORT OPERATIONS CENTER FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE

Moroccan authorities have established an airport operations centre at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, a central hub that coordinates all airport activities for real-time, efficient management, using shared data and AI/Iot technology.

The goal is to improve flow, reduce disruptions, enhance the passenger experience from airside to landside and moves from fragmented decisions to unified, data-driven operations for better predictability and performance.

The Casablanca airport coordination hub brings together representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, National Police, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Customs, airlines, ground handling companies, the airport operator, air navigation and air traffic control services, maintenance teams, and IT services.

Morocco’s National Airports Authority ONDA describes the new centre as a ‘structural advancement in the operational organisation’ of the country’s largest airport.

Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the centre oversees all critical airport processes, from flight planning and aircraft coordination to runway and parking management, ground traffic flow, baggage handling for departures and arrivals, resource monitoring, passenger journey coordination, checkpoint fluidity, and boarding operations.

For passengers, the centre is expected to result in shorter waiting times, a smoother travel experience, and real-time operational information. Airlines, meanwhile, are set to benefit from improved resource coordination, fewer delays, and greater operational efficiency, in line with Morocco’s Airports 2030 strategy.
