Starlink Launches Satellite Internet Services in Senegal

Elon Musk’s satellite internet provider, Starlink, has officially launched operations in Senegal, extending its footprint across the African continent. The company announced the rollout in a statement issued on Wednesday, confirming that its high-speed, low-latency internet service is now available in the country.

Starlink, a division of SpaceX, said the expansion aligns with its broader strategy of improving connectivity in underserved and remote areas. Starlink operates using a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites and has rapidly scaled its global reach, with services now available in more than 150 countries and territories.

Its entry into Senegal forms part of a wider African push that has seen the service become operational in over 20 countries across the continent since 2023.

The move is expected to strengthen digital access and support economic and technological inclusion in areas with limited traditional broadband infrastructure.
