President Denis Sassou Nguesso has announced on Thursday his intention to contest the forthcoming presidential election, positioning himself for another term in office.
The declaration was made during the inauguration of the country’s first major agricultural fair at Bambou-Mingali, near Brazzaville on Thursday, where he reiterated his commitment to strengthening agricultural transformation programmes initiated during his current tenure.
His decision follows an endorsement by the Presidential Majority, a broad coalition comprising 18 political parties, signalling consolidated political backing ahead of the polls.
The announcement frames the election as a continuation of policy priorities centred on economic diversification, with agriculture highlighted as a strategic pillar for national development.
