Angola and Brazil have strengthened bilateral ties through a new agreement aimed at expanding cooperation in the electricity sector, marking a significant step in their growing strategic partnership.
The memorandum of understanding, signed during a ministerial meeting on March 24, brings together Angola’s Energy and Water Minister João Baptista Borges and Brazil’s Mines and Energy Minister Alexandre Silveira to enhance technical and institutional collaboration in power development.
The agreement focuses on modernising electricity systems in both countries, with emphasis on energy planning, production, transmission and distribution. It also highlights cooperation in advancing energy transition initiatives and promoting sustainable power solutions.
The deal forms part of an official Angolan delegation visit to Brazil from March 22 to 27, 2026, which includes a series of technical engagements with key Brazilian energy institutions to exchange expertise and explore investment opportunities.
Both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening long-standing relations, boosting energy security and fostering sustainable development through deeper cooperation in the electricity sector.
