Salva Kiir Returns from Addis Ababa with Pledge to Deepen South Sudan–Ethiopia Ties

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has returned to Juba over the week-end following a two-day State visit to Addis Ababa at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Monday Semaya Kumba, described the trip as strategic and successful, noting that discussions covered political developments, economic cooperation and regional security.

Talks also addressed South Sudan’s internal processes, including preparations for elections, alongside commitments to peace, development and institutional reform. Both sides agreed to allocate land for diplomatic missions in their respective capitals, while also exploring expanded cooperation in infrastructure, trade, oil and transport. The visit underscores renewed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and regional collaboration.
