Togo Marks 66th Independence Anniversary with Renewed Focus on Security, Unity and Development

On Monday, April 27, during Togo’s 66th independence anniversary, President Faure Gnassingbé set out a strategic vision centred on three pillars: “protect, unite and transform.”

He emphasised that strengthening security—particularly in the northern regions—remains a priority, alongside improving access to essential services such as water, energy and healthcare. Efforts to foster national cohesion will focus on reducing regional disparities and enhancing dialogue between citizens and state authorities.

On development, the government will prioritise agricultural modernisation, economic growth and youth training. The president underscored that independence is an ongoing responsibility, requiring sustained and practical action to shape the nation’s future trajectory.
