Côte d’Ivoire launches three-month nationwide trader registration drive

On Wednesday, April 29, Côte d’Ivoire’s Commerce Ministry commenced a three-month nationwide campaign to register economic operators, with the objective of formalizing the commercial sector and enhancing its contribution to the national economy.

At the launch, technical advisor Ibrahim Coulibaly stated that the initiative will adopt a proximity-based approach, engaging traders directly to ease registration and ensure compliance. Hamidou Body, Director-General of Universal Technology, the implementing firm, indicated that the exercise aims to register more than 1.5 million economic actors within the three-month period, while also recovering at least one-third of outstanding fees through coordinated mobilization.

The campaign aligns with the government’s broader policy requiring all economic operators to obtain a digital trader card, facilitating their inclusion in the National Register of Traders and Entrepreneurs.
