Prosperity Party Secures Landslide Victory in Ethiopia’s 7th General Election as NEBE Releases Final Results

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has officially announced on Sunday the final results of Ethiopia’s 7th General Election, confirming a decisive victory for the ruling Prosperity Party in elections to the House of People’s Representatives and Regional State Councils.

The party has secured a commanding majority, positioning it to form the next federal government and dominate regional legislatures, following what it describes as a broad public endorsement.

In a statement issued after the announcement, the Prosperity Party expressed gratitude to Ethiopian citizens for their participation, noting that more than 54 million people took part in the electoral process. It also commended election officials, security agencies, observers, competing political parties, and international partners for contributing to what it described as a peaceful and credible vote.

The party characterized the election as a milestone in the country’s democratic development, arguing that the process reflects strengthening institutions and growing national political maturity.

With its renewed mandate, the Prosperity Party pledged to intensify efforts towards inclusive economic growth, improved livelihoods, job creation, food security, and broader economic transformation. It also outlined governance priorities including rule of law strengthening, cost-of-living stabilization, anti-corruption measures, and digital-driven public service reforms.

Further commitments include supporting Ethiopia’s National Dialogue process to advance peace, consensus-building, and national cohesion.

Reaffirming its long-term vision of a prosperous and united Ethiopia, the party described the electoral outcome as both a vote of confidence and a responsibility to deliver measurable progress in the next phase of governance.
