Ethiopia’s PM Abiy, EU Foreign Policy Chief Discuss Regional Cooperation and Economic Partnership

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held talks with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, on strengthening EU-Africa relations and expanding economic cooperation.

The meeting took place in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with both sides discussing regional challenges and opportunities to deepen strategic partnerships. Prime Minister Abiy described the discussions as productive, saying they focused on areas of mutual interest, including enhanced cooperation between Ethiopia, Africa and the European Union.

The talks also explored ways to promote trade, investment and development partnerships as part of efforts to reinforce economic ties between the two regions.
