The normalization committee of Cameroon’s football Association (Fecafoot) has advertised the vacancy for head coach of the national team, indomitable Lions.
Fecafoot has parted ways with their African Nations Cup winning coach Hugo Broos in December.
Just 10 months after he delivered their unexpected African Nations Cup triumph, their first in 15 years, Fecafoot have dismissed the Belgian-born technician for several reasons among which failure to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Hugo Broos, 65, had revealed earlier that he turned down several managerial jobs after his Africa Cup of Nations triumph, including an offer to coach South Africa’s national team.
In a statement released on Sunday, Fecafoot said it seeks a top local or foreign coach, who has a ‘good record and has won national or international titles as a player, club or national coach’. Applicants for the position must also be ready to live in Cameroon.
The normalization committee announced that Alexandre Belinga will take interim charge of the national team as the search for a permanent coach continues.
Cameroon is expected to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The 2019 finals will be the first in Nations Cup history to feature 24 teams, after the tournament was expanded last year.
