The Gabonese striker of FC Barcelona Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang announced that he ended his international career, said Thursday Patrice Neveu, the coach of the Panthers, information confirmed by the Gabonese Football Federation.
“He announced by an official letter sent to the Gabonese Football Federation (Fégafoot) that he was retiring from international football,” said the French coach of Gabon.
“After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I announce that I am ending my international career. I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in good times and bad,” wrote Aubameyang in a letter to the Fégafoot, which praised “the immense career and regularity at the top level of one who was able to sell, through his professionalism, the image of Gabon in the world.”
Barça recruited Aubameyang, 32, at the beginning of February, after he was released by Arsenal, where he was disgraced, after the English club agreed to terminate his contract “by mutual consent” to save his huge salary, estimated at 15 million pounds per year (EUR 18 million).
The striker has scored 13 goals in three months for the Catalan club since his arrival.
