Algeria prevents Moroccan reporters from covering Arab League Summit

Algeria has abused its host capacity of the Arab League by mistreating and expelling Moroccan reporters who arrived in Algiers airport to cover the Arab League Summit.

The Moroccan reporters were subject to degrading treatment in the airport by Algerian security services which confiscated their equipment and interrogated them as if they were criminals before asking them to leave the airport.

This violation of Arab League protocols was met with fierce condemnation by Moroccan journalism union and the publishers association joined by the Arab journalist organizations.

Algeria had given a similar treatment to a delegation of Moroccan sports journalists who travelled to Algeria to cover the Mediterranean games three months ago.
