The Portuguese Agriculture Minister and her São Tomense counterpart discussed Saturday, in São Tomé, the strengthening of cooperation to ensure a sustainable food system and the organization of the archipelago’s agricultural sector to increase exports.
The Portuguese Minister of Agriculture and Food, Maria do Céu Antunes, is in Sao Tome and Principe as part of the commemorations of the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, and met Sunday with his counterpart Abel Bom Jesus to analyze the cooperation between the two ministries.
Maria do Céu Antunes reinforced that a meeting with Abel Bom Jesus in Lisbon had already expressed the “commitment to strengthen these relations” between the two ministries.
According to the minister, the cooperation plan in agriculture “has its first focus on capacity building” with visits by technicians from the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture to São Tomé, and also bringing São Tomans to deepen their knowledge in institutions in Portugal.
