The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique has corrected a mistake in the electoral law, ensuring that original copies of minutes and public notices are provided to candidate representatives, observers, and journalists, enhancing election transparency.
On September 17, the Assembly disclosed a correction dated September 13, amending two articles of Law 15/2024, which sets the legal framework for the election of the president and members of parliament. Article 99 now specifies that polling station officials must distribute signed and stamped copies of original minutes and vote tabulation public notices to political party delegates, observers, and journalists.
Additionally, Article 192, concerning electoral disputes, clarifies that irregularities in voting or tabulation at any level—local, provincial, or national—can be addressed through legal appeals. These revisions took effect in August, including changes to the authority of district courts to mandate vote recounts.
