Abdoulaye Fall was elected Sunday as the new president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) after a two-day general assembly held in Dakar, “Africa Football United” reported.
Fall, a Treasury inspector and president of the Diourbel regional football league, will succeed Augustin Senghor for a four-year term.
“This election is a new chapter for Senegalese football,” a delegate at the assembly said. “It comes with real expectations for reform, especially in how local structures are supported and how our national teams perform.”
Fall’s mandate begins at a critical time, as Senegalese football enjoys on-field success but confronts urgent structural challenges in regional leagues and youth development.
Observers say the electoral process was one of the most dynamic in recent FSF history, with strong campaigning, multiple withdrawals, and a clear desire for renewal.
Fall has yet to lay out detailed plans, but sources close to his team told Senegalese outlet “Dakar Actu” he intends to focus on decentralizing football development, improving transparency in governance, and investing more in women’s and youth competitions.
The general assembly opened Saturday with Senegal’s Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture, Khady Diène Gaye, in attendance. Representatives from FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee were also present.
