Defense: 1st Morocco-Made WhAP 8×8 Delivered to Royal Moroccan Army

The first batch of WhAP 8×8 armored vehicles produced by India’s “Tata Advanced Systems” plant in Morocco has been delivered to the Royal Moroccan Army, a milestone in the country’s defense industry.

The WhAP 8×8 is designed as a modular armored vehicle intended for a range of combat and support missions. It provides protection, mobility, and adaptability. It can be configured for multiple roles, including infantry transport, command and control, and support missions

In 2024, Morocco reached an agreement with Tata group to locally produce the WhAP 8×8 armored vehicle. The arrangement includes domestic manufacturing and adaptation of the platform to meet the operational requirements of the Moroccan Armed Forces.

Morocco is developing its defense industry with international partners to reduce its dependence on foreign weapons purchases and strengthen its military capabilities to counter threats to its national security.
