China Reaffirms Support for South Sudan’s Development and Peace at New Year Reception

At a Chinese New Year reception in Juba , China’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang, reaffirmed Beijing’s steadfast support for South Sudan’s development, peace and reconstruction efforts.

The ambassador described the celebration as embodying harmony and unity, principles he said underpin China’s global engagement and its strategic partnership with South Sudan.

Ma highlighted the steady deepening of bilateral cooperation, noting progress in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and livelihoods, and emphasised China’s commitment to helping South Sudan pursue a development path tailored to its own conditions. He also reiterated Beijing’s endorsement of the one-China principle as central to their relationship.

South Sudan’s senior presidential envoy on special programmes, Adut Salva Kiir, spoke of the Year of the Horse symbolising renewed momentum, underscoring Juba’s openness to enhanced cooperation and investment across sectors such as infrastructure, technology, oil and gas, trade, education, mining and agriculture.
