US-Morocco military deal worth $ 239 Mln approved

The State Department has approved the sale to Morocco of 25 M88A2 heavy equipment recovery combat utility lift and evacuation system (Hercules) vehicles and M88A1 long supply Hercules refurbished vehicles for $239.35 million.

According to US authorities, this military deal will help “improve the security of a major non-NATO ally that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in North Africa”.

The sale will also enhance Morocco’s capability to meet current and future combat vehicle recovery requirements. The US heavy military equipment will enable Moroccan army to strengthen its homeland defense and deter regional threats.

The military deal will help the North African Kingdom, one of the major US allies in the region, to modernize its armed forces by updating their combat vehicle recovery capability in pace with their armored unit upgrades.
