Burundi’s Constitutional Court on Thursday rejected the main opposition party’s appeal against the result of the May 20 presidential election and validated the victory of General Evariste Ndayishimiye.
The appeals of the head of the National Council for Liberty (CNL), Agathon Rwasa, against the results of the presidential, legislative and communal elections are “null and void”, the court said.
The high court validated the final results giving General Évariste Ndayishimiye, the ruling party’s candidate, winner of the presidential election with 68% of the votes.
