Senegal condemns Eric Zemmour’s remarks about the Senegalese community in France

The Senegalese embassy in France condemns the remarks of the far-right candidate in the French presidential elections Eric Zemmour. During a visit at the beginning of the weekend to the Porte de la Villette in Paris, Eric Zemmour said that most foreign offenders are Senegalese and that they will be sent back to Senegal if he is elected president.
Last May, the French presidential candidate had already stated, on the CNews channel, that “all crack dealers are Senegalese” in Paris. This new statement of the polemicist provokes the anger of Senegal. Its ambassador in France, El Hadji Magatte Seye, strongly condemns these remarks.
“After his first outing, Senegal did not see fit to react to the stigmatizing remarks of Mr. Eric Zemmour, but with this second outing, we realize that it is becoming recurrent. It is becoming almost obsessive on his part to lash out against Senegal and the Senegalese community here in France.”
The ambassador also sees “a primary racism” in this. “You can’t attack a community that makes multiple efforts to integrate and respect the laws of the French Republic. That is why Senegal, through my voice, denounces with the utmost firmness these remarks that we call racist, irresponsible, especially for someone who aspires to hold high office here in France if we know the special relationship that France has with Senegal.”
The Senegalese ambassador to France added that his country “will take appropriate action” against Eric Zemmour, and that all possibilities are considered, even legal action against the presidential candidate.
