The recently held second round of political consultations between Egypt and Turkey focused on African affairs, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
During discussions, both countries assessed the fast-evolving developments in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region, emphasizing shared priorities in strengthening regional security and stability. They noted that stability would help restore regular international shipping operations through the Red Sea.
Egypt and Turkey agreed to intensify cooperation through multiple frameworks and channels to realize their mutual objectives in the region. They also reaffirmed their support for Somalia’s counter-terrorism efforts and the reinforcement of the Somali National Army.
A separate round of consultations that focused on the situation in Libya stressed the need to foster continued dialogue and coordination to advance the welfare of the Libyan people.
