India Clinch Under-19 T20 World Cup with Commanding Nine-Wicket Win Over South Africa

India have emerged victorious on February 2 in the Under-19 T20 World Cup, cruising to a comprehensive nine-wicket win over South Africa in the final. South Africa were bundled out for a mere 82 runs, with India chasing down the target in a mere 11.2 overs in Kuala Lumpur.
Gongadi Trisha was the star of the show, taking impressive figures of 3-15 with the ball before top-scoring with an unbeaten 44 runs from just 33 balls to steer India to victory.
South Africa, having won the toss and chosen to bat, were immediately under pressure. The Proteas lost three quick wickets in the powerplay, leaving them stranded at 20-3. The Indian spinners dominated from the outset, causing regular breakdowns in South Africa’s batting order. Despite brief resistance, the Proteas were eventually dismissed in their final over, unable to recover from the early damage and finishing with a disappointing total.
In stark contrast, India’s chase was swift and efficient. Trisha’s aggressive start put the game beyond South Africa’s reach, and the chase was completed easily in the 12th over. With this win, India claimed their second Under-19 T20 World Cup title, having also triumphed in the inaugural tournament in 2023. Trisha, who was the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 309 runs, firmly established herself as a rising star in the world of cricket.
