Morocco Telecom takes acquisition of interest in Moov CI

montage_businessThe Head of State of the Republic of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, chaired the first cabinet meeting of 2015 on the 7th January, 2015. After this meeting with his ministers, several decisions were taken including the decree which approves, “according to the regulations in force in the ICT sector, the acquisition of interest by Morocco Telecom in the capital of Ivory Coast Atlantique Telecom (MOOV CI) “.

After the acquisition by Etisalat of 53% of Vivendi in Morocco Telecom, taking control of the historical operator of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Emirati Telecom Group sold some of its African operations, including the mobile operator, Atlantique Telecom, which operates under the brand name of Moov CI. But such agreements are not only about the companies that negotiate them. Above all, they require the approval of the countries where they operate because they have a direct impact on the national economy.

The State of Côte d’Ivoire, which guarantees the protection of national economic interests, has to ensure that the change in management of Atlantique Telecom presents no harm to the country. Its approval, which means that it will not be the case, translates officially the takeover of Moov CI by Morocco Telecom.
