Mauritania: A new governor for the Central Bank

imagesDahi Ould Abdel Aziz was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania (BCM), according to a decree of the President of the Republic released on Friday afternoon.

Former minister in the government of President Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, Mr. Dahi was until his appointment, General Manager of the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM).

No reason has been given in the decree to explain the sacking of the former governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Raiss, which mandate was renewed in mid-August 2014 for a second five-year term.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania (BCM) has a five year term.
