On April 23, the Government of Angola has announced a 30 billion kwanza credit facility to support companies affected by natural disasters across multiple provinces, including Benguela, Bié, Huíla and Cunene.
Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, said the funding is designed to revive economic activity following damage caused by heavy rains and flooding, particularly from the Cavaco River. The support package is open to all sectors, from agriculture to manufacturing, and applies to both domestic and foreign-owned businesses.
Authorities indicated that the National Bank of Angola will facilitate access to foreign exchange through commercial banks to enable critical imports, while also strengthening regulatory oversight.
The government emphasised that companies must meet eligibility requirements, including tax compliance and proof of disaster-related losses, to access the funds. Officials say the initiative reflects a broader commitment to stabilising businesses, accelerating recovery, and reinforcing economic resilience in disaster-affected regions.
