Mali’s Transitional President, Assimi Goïta, has pledged that military operations will continue until all groups responsible for the April 25 attacks are neutralized and national security is fully restored.
In a televised address at 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday, he described the April 25 assaults as complex and coordinated, targeting multiple cities including Bamako, Kati, Mopti, Gao and Kidal. He noted that security forces responded swiftly and professionally, inflicting significant losses on the attackers, who aimed to spread widespread violence.
Goïta stated that the situation is now under control, with reinforced deployments and ongoing search, intelligence and security operations. He also attributed the attacks to a broader destabilization plot involving terrorist groups and their backers.
The President paid tribute to Defence Minister Gen. Sadio Camara, whose death he described as a major national loss, and extended condolences to victims’ families while directing the government to enhance support for those affected. He further urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid misinformation and place confidence in the country’s security forces.
