Zimbabwe won the 2026 Rugby Africa Sevens Series after defeating hosts Uganda 26-19 in the final at the Kyadondo Rugby Ground in Kampala on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The victory also secured Zimbabwe qualification for the 2027 World Rugby Sevens Series. Zimbabwe advanced to the final with a 24-19 semi-final win over Zambia, while Uganda’s Rugby Cranes defeated Morocco 10-0.
Zimbabwe captain Tapiwa Malenga attributed the triumph to the team’s hard work. Uganda coach Allan Otim, meanwhile, said his side lost control in the second half after starting strongly, adding that a sin-bin further weakened the team.
