Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said on Thursday, October 15, that he had written to US President Donald Trump reaffirming his Government’s commitment to Washington’s peace efforts.
Burhan said Sudan was ready to work with all parties towards a just and lasting peace that protects the country’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and people’s dignity. His remarks followed US senior adviser Massad Boulos’s condemnation of an October 9 drone strike that killed at least 12 civilians in An Nuhud, West Kordofan.
Earlier, on October 5, armed groups allied with the Sudanese Army announced that they and the military had captured Bir Saliba in West Darfur from the Rapid Support Forces. Sudan’s war between the Army and the paramilitary group began in April 2023, killing tens of thousands and displacing millions.
