The government and the unions have reached an agreement on one of the most important points of the demands, namely the payment of the risk premium to all health sector workers who have not benefited from it.
According to the secretary general of the nurses’ union, 5092 health workers and administrative staff in the sector will receive this bonus in July.
And the operation will continue until the 60,000 people who are concerned by the payment of risk premiums are reached, explains Joseph Kibangula. Aimé Boji, the Minister of State in charge of the Budget, confirms the good news himself.
The unions and the government will continue discussions to resolve all outstanding issues. An inter-ministerial commission will be set up for ongoing discussions to prepare the state budget for 2022.
Both parties have agreed to resume work as soon as possible. This strike by nurses and other administrative staff in the public health sector will have lasted for almost a month with negative consequences.
