Angola to Commission First Serum Factory by November

Angola is set to inaugurate its first hospital serum factory this November 2025, as part of a broader effort to strengthen the nation’s pharmaceutical industry and reduce dependence on imports.
The facility, valued at 80 million euros, forms part of an industrial health complex jointly developed by Portuguese firms Medika and Gazcorp, alongside the Angolan company VitalFlow. It will be located on a 60,000-square-metre site within the Luanda Special Economic Zone, near the António Agostinho Neto International Airport.
The factory will comprise four production units dedicated to the manufacturing of tablets and capsules, injectable medicines, hospital serum, and medical gases such as oxygen and nitrogen. Once operational, the plant is expected to produce approximately 17.5 million litres of serum annually and create about 160 direct jobs. The project marks a significant milestone in Angola’s healthcare modernisation agenda, aimed at boosting local production capacity and ensuring sustainable access to essential medical supplies.
