Ethiopia and Ireland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at broadening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including business and investment.
The agreement was formalised at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Addis Ababa by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hadera Abera and Ireland’s State Minister for International Development and Diaspora Neale Richmond.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hadera described the MoU as a demonstration of both countries’ shared resolve to sustain regular dialogue and expand collaboration beyond humanitarian engagement.
He noted that cooperation between Ethiopia and Ireland increasingly spans strategic areas such as business and investment, reaffirming Ethiopia’s commitment to building a durable and mutually beneficial partnership.
Richmond, for his part, underscored the multifaceted nature of the relationship, citing humanitarian, development, economic and political dimensions. He highlighted that Ethiopia hosts Ireland’s largest diplomatic mission in Africa and ranks among its five largest missions globally, reflecting Dublin’s strategic interest in strengthening ties.
He described the MoU as a meaningful milestone in the evolving partnership, emphasising shared priorities and a common commitment to advancing mutual interests.
