The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) granted Mauritania over S10.5 million to help it upgrade electricity facilities and meet the growing demand in nearly 30 cities in the interior of the country up to year 2020.
The related agreement was initialled in Nouakchott by Mauritanian Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Sidi Ould Tah, and AFESD Director General, Abdellatif Youssef Alhamd.
AFESD has been contributing for over four decades to Mauritania’s economic and social development through financing several major projects in vital sectors such as water, electricity, communications, roads, mines, fisheries, rural development and health.
The fund has also helped the North African country improve its institutional capacity.
