Congo-Brazzaville: Former Minister of Finance Mathias Dzon to run for presidential election

Former Minister of Finance between 1997 and 2002, Mathias Dzon, aged 73, was nominated by the ARD (Alliance for the Republic and Democracy) Saturday, August 29, 2020 candidate for the 2021 presidential election for which the Congolese Labor Party (PCT) has already invested President Denis Sassou Nguesso. Mathias Dzon, who took note of this solicitation, however expressed concern about electoral governance.
ARD (Alliance for the Republic and Democracy) asked its leader to stand as a candidate in the next elections at a convention during which it drew a negative assessment of the 60 years of independence celebrated on August 15. For Mathias Dzon, it is time to change the management software and to bring the country out of the abyss.
“ARD, after reflection, proposed me to be a candidate in the next presidential election to bring the country out of chaos. This is the mission that has been entrusted to me (…). My answer! First of all, it is a mark of trust and then a heavy responsibility. Good! I have taken note. There is still time. The moment will come when I will tell them “Ok, I will accept your mission”, but with the help of all of us we will win”, said Mathias Dzon.
