RSF Accused of Massacre in Sudan’s North Kordofan, 46 Civilians Killed

At least 46 civilians, including five women, were killed and 37 others wounded in a brutal attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Hillat Hamid village in North Kordofan State, Sudan. The Sudanese Doctors Network confirmed on Monday, July 14 the assault, which occurred on Sunday, and reported that victims had to be buried in mass graves by local residents.

The organization condemned the incident as a “heinous massacre” and called for urgent international intervention, including sanctions against RSF leaders, to protect Sudanese civilians.
The Emergency Lawyers Group corroborated the casualty figures and denounced the RSF’s actions as part of a systematic campaign to instill terror and forcibly displace local populations. According to their statement, the village was overrun with intense gunfire, followed by the destruction and looting of homes and farms. The group asserted that the attack constitutes genocide and crimes against humanity under international law, holding the RSF leadership fully responsible for the atrocity.

This latest violence comes amid intensified clashes between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the North Kordofan region, particularly around the strategic state capital, El-Obeid. The broader conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has devastated Sudan—claiming tens of thousands of lives and displacing millions. The humanitarian toll continues to escalate, with civil society groups and rights organizations calling on the international community to intervene decisively.
