Eastern Libyan military commander Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Staff and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at Pakistan’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, on Monday, during which te two sides renewed commitment to Foster military cooperation and security dialogue.
Haftar was accompanied by his deputy, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, in what was described as a high-level engagement focused on strengthening defense ties and exchanging views on regional security dynamics and professional collaboration.
During their discussions, both leaders emphasised the importance of continued engagement and collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Libya, with Munir reaffirming Islamabad’s support for peace, stability and institutional development in Libya. The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting longstanding friendly relations between the two nations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
The visit follows a major defense agreement finalised in December 2025. The multi-billion-dollar military equipment deal between Pakistan and Libya’s Eastern forces — reportedly valued at more than $4 billion and including aircraft and training provisions — marking one of Pakistan’s largest weapons export agreements to date.
The engagement is part of broader efforts by both sides to deepen professional military cooperation, enhance capacity building, and align on mutual interests amid evolving regional and security environments.
