Ivory Coast Sets Lower Cashew Farmgate Price for 2026 Season Amid Global Market Pressures

Ivory Coast has fixed the farmgate price of raw cashew nuts at 400 CFA francs per kilogram for the 2026 marketing season, representing a 25 CFA franc decline compared with 2025.

The decision was announced over the weekend in Yamoussoukro during the National Producer Days and reflects caution in the face of weakening global demand and a softer US dollar, which fell from 620 to 565 CFA francs over the past year. The slowdown in the international cashew market, driven largely by a
sharp reduction in US purchases, has added further pressure.

Despite the slight decrease, the government insists the price remains protective, aimed at safeguarding producers’ incomes while ensuring the sale of national output.
Agriculture Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné and industry players have signalled that a price increase is not ruled out in the coming weeks, should market conditions stabilise.

As the world’s leading cashew producer, with more than 1.4 million tonnes harvested last year, Ivory Coast continues to position itself to balance producer security with shifting global market realities.
