Malian Army says 50 militants killed in nationwide air strikes amid escalating insecurity

The Malian Army on Tuesday announced that it had carried out coordinated air strikes across multiple regions, neutralizing about 50 militants and destroying key logistics assets.

According to a statement by the General Staff, the first operation on Monday targeted a camouflaged hideout in western Dioura, where six pick-up trucks, motorcycles, and a fuel and munitions depot concealed under vegetation were destroyed.

Further strikes in northern Sévaré reportedly neutralized “about 50 terrorists” and destroyed four pick-ups, motorcycles, and another logistics base. A separate operation in southeastern Ménaka also “totally neutralized” an armed group.

The military said the operations form part of ongoing offensive reconnaissance missions nationwide, as Mali confronts a resurgence of militant and separatist attacks, particularly in central and northern areas.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustained counterterrorism efforts, stating that armed groups would be pursued across the country. The latest operations follow a series of coordinated assaults in April targeting Bamako and other military installations.
