Côte d’Ivoire Positions Road Infrastructure as Key Driver of Economic Growth

Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed its commitment to making road infrastructure a central pillar of its development strategy, according to Thomas Camara, Chairman of the Road Maintenance Fund (FER).

Speaking at the institution’s 25th anniversary yesterday, April 19, he highlighted the government’s efforts to expand and modernise the road network, describing it as both an economic catalyst and a source of national pride.

The country’s paved road network has grown significantly, increasing from 6,500 km in 2015 to about 9,200 km by mid-2025, including nearly 400 km of highways, within a total network exceeding 82,000 km.

Authorities say the FER will play a pivotal role in financing a sustainable, safe and efficient road system to boost economic activity and improve mobility nationwide.
