Mauritania: Dismissal of Managing Director of CNSS following controversial recruitment process

The Mauritanian Council of Ministers announced on Wednesday August 21, the dismissal of Mohamed Ould Taleb Ahmed as Managing Director of the CNSS. He is being replaced by Mohamed Lemine Ould Aboye Ould Cheikh El Hadrami, a former Minister of Hydraulics and ex-ambassador to Rabat.

The primary reason for Ould Taleb Ahmed’s dismissal was a controversial recruitment process. The Government had previously canceled the results of this recruitment competition indefinitely, citing the need for new tests to be organized.

Candidates affected by the cancellation have expressed concerns that it harms their interests and are calling for a government investigation. They seek to uncover the irregularities that occurred during the competition.
