Senegal Pledges Solidarity with Mali After April 25 Attacks

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has affirmed his country’s readiness to support Mali in restoring peace and stability following recent attacks.

Speaking on Saturday evening in a media interview, he underscored the enduring historical and geographical ties between the two nations, noting that insecurity in Mali directly impacts Senegal.

Faye called for a unified African response to terrorism, stressing the importance of proactive crisis management, deeper regional cooperation, and strengthened intelligence sharing.

His remarks follow the coordinated attacks of April 25, which struck multiple locations, including Bamako, Kati, Gao and Sevare. The violence marked a significant escalation, with reports indicating that Mali’s Defence Minister, Sadio Camara, was killed in an attack on his residence in Kati.
