Innovation is playing an increasingly important role in Africa’s ICT sector. One key area is the creation of ICT products, labs and networks. In this vision, Google Senegal has launched earlier this week in Dakar, the Creativ Lab for Youtube content, to help filmmakers and actors produce more professional videos.
The new space opened in partnership with Dakar digital art and technology institute Sup IMAX contain ten PCs and three laptops, cameras, and an 8 Mbps internet line from telecom operator Tigo Senegal.
Sup Max director Didier Diop said “All Youtubers will have access to the machines and cameras free of charge during hours to be chosen according to the room’s availability. The material should allow them to easily create the content they publish on the videos website.”
Google wants Senegalese internet users to benefit from new local content and local content producers to earn money from their work,
A member of Google Senegal staff said “creators will be able to book time in the space to create and collaborate with other creators, learn new techniques, and will gain access to state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, to help them generate great new content for their channels.”
