Coronavirus Pandemic update in Africa

Africa had 54 027 confirmed cases of Coronavirus as of Friday, May 8. Covid-19 has already claimed the lives of 2 074people on the continent, according to the African Union Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. South Africa and Egypt are the two most affected countries, with 8 232 and 7 981cases respectively. They are followed by Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and Ghana.
The African continent has now passed the symbolic mark of 2 074 people who died as a result of Covid-19. Algeria is the country most affected by the deaths from coronavirus pandemic, with 483 deaths on its territory. Egypt has 482 deaths, Morocco 183 and South Africa 161. In the official reports, eight African countries do not currently record any coronavirus-related deaths: Central Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Eritrea, Namibia, Mozambique and Lesotho.
